Le porte-parole du Bureau des droits de l'homme de l'ONU, Thameen Al-Kheetan, a appelé aujourd'hui l'armée israélienne à cesser de tirer sur les personnes affamées essayant d'obtenir de la nourriture aux points de distribution d'aide opérés par le « Fonds humanitaire pour Gaza » à Gaza.
« Depuis que la « Fondation humanitaire pour Gaza » a commencé à fonctionner le 27 mai, l'armée israélienne a bombardé et tiré sur des Palestiniens essayant d'atteindre les points de distribution, entraînant de nombreux décès. Il est rapporté que plus de 410 Palestiniens ont été tués à la suite de ces actions,» a déclaré Al-Thameen.
Lors du point de presse bihebdomadaire à Genève, le porte-parole du Bureau des droits de l'homme de l'ONU a déclaré que plus de 410 Palestiniens auraient été tués à la suite des bombardements et des tirs de l'armée israélienne sur des Palestiniens essayant d'atteindre les points de distribution. Il a ajouté qu'au moins 93 autres auraient été tués par l'armée israélienne en tentant de s'approcher des rares convois d'aide de l'ONU et d'autres organisations humanitaires.
« Chacune de ces tueries doit faire l'objet d'une enquête rapide et impartiale, et les responsables doivent être tenus pour responsables. Le meurtre et les blessures de civils résultant de l'utilisation illégale d'armes à feu constituent une grave violation du droit international et un crime de guerre,» a-t-il déclaré.
« L'armée israélienne doit cesser de tirer sur les personnes essayant d'obtenir de la nourriture. Israël doit également permettre l'entrée de nourriture et d'autres aides humanitaires nécessaires pour soutenir la vie des Palestiniens à Gaza conformément au droit international et aux principes humanitaires. Il doit immédiatement lever ses restrictions illégales sur le travail de l'ONU et d'autres acteurs humanitaires,» a-t-il ajouté.
«Les États tiers ont l'obligation de prendre des mesures concrètes pour s'assurer qu'Israël, la puissance occupante à Gaza, respecte son devoir de garantir que suffisamment de nourriture et de produits de première nécessité soient fournis à la population,» a déclaré Al-Kheetan.
