بعد الاتهامات الجدية التي وجهت لعدة موظفين يعملون في وكالة الأمم المتحدة المساعدة للاجئين الفلسطينيين (الأونروا) في قطاع غزة بضلوعهم في هجمات إرهابية في جنوب إسرائيل في 7 أكتوبر، مما أدى إلى تعليق العديد من الدول مؤقتاً لدفعاتها للمنظمة المساعدة، ناشدت منظمة الصحة العالمية (WHO) اليوم (30 يناير) المانحين "عدم تعليق تمويلهم للأونروا في هذه اللحظة الحرجة. سيؤدي قطع التمويل إلى إيذاء سكان غزة الذين يحتاجون بشدة إلى الدعم".
عندما قدم المتحدث باسم منظمة الصحة العالمية كريستيان ليندماير تصريحاً للصحفيين في الأمم المتحدة في جنيف، قال إن "النشاط الإجرامي لا يمكن أبداً أن يمر دون عقاب. لكن المناقشة الحالية هي بمثابة تشتيت للانتباه عن ما يحدث حقاً كل يوم، كل ساعة، كل دقيقة في غزة. إنها تشتيت عن أكثر من 27,000 حالة وفاة حتى الآن، ومن بينهم 70 في المائة من النساء والأطفال".
أضاف السيد ليندماير أن "هذا تشتيت عن منع السكان بأكملهم من الوصول إلى المياه النظيفة والطعام والمأوى. إنه تشتيت عن منع الكهرباء من الوصول إلى غزة لأكثر من 100 يوم".
بالإضافة إلى برامجها في قطاع غزة، تقدم الأونروا مساعدات إنسانية حيوية للاجئين الفلسطينيين في الأردن ولبنان وسوريا وفي الضفة الغربية بما في ذلك القدس الشرقية.
في قطاع غزة، تقدم الوكالة مساعدات لإنقاذ الأرواح لأكثر من مليوني مدني، وتدير ملاجئ لأكثر من مليون شخص وتوفر الطعام والماء وخدمات الرعاية الصحية.
ذكر السيد ليندماير عن وضع صعب جداً حيث "الوضع الغذائي والمائي سيء للغاية، تم قطع الطعام في غزة منذ أكثر من 100 يوم، وتم قطع إمدادات المياه النقية، وتم خلط المياه بمياه الصرف الصحي". كما أن محطات الضخ لا تعمل بسبب نقص الوقود والسكان على حافة المجاعة.
قال المتحدث باسم WHO "لقد كان لدينا قافلة صباح اليوم تحاول الوصول إلى مستشفى ناصر مع المرضى والعاملين في مجال الرعاية الصحية، الجميع. إنهم بحاجة إلى الطعام، ولكن السكان المحتاجين بالفعل قبل ذلك أخذوا الإمدادات - كما يمكننا أن نسميها - كانت هذه توزيعًا ذاتيًا للإمدادات، مما يظهر فقط مدى حاجة الوضع الصعب".
وفقًا لأحدث تقرير لمكتب تنسيق الشؤون الإنسانية التابع للأمم المتحدة (OCHA)، كانت الأعمال العدائية مكثفة بشكل خاص في خان يونس، حيث تم الإبلاغ عن قتال عنيف بالقرب من مستشفى ناصر والأمل. وهناك أيضًا تقارير عن فلسطينيين يفرون إلى بلدة رفح الجنوبية، التي تعاني بالفعل من الاكتظاظ، على الرغم من عدم وجود ممر آمن.
أكد المتحدث باسم OCHA ينس ليركه أن "الأونروا لم تتوقف عن العمل، وتواصل الأونروا العمل. إنها خطورة توقف التمويل بينما هو لا يمكن استبداله في العملية الإنسانية".
سيستضيف الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة أنطونيو غوتيريش اجتماعًا اليوم (30 يناير) مع المانحين الرئيسيين للأونروا في نيويورك لإصدار نداء عاجل للحفاظ على تدفق الأموال لإنقاذ الأرواح.
