        La porte-parole de l'ONU pour les droits de l'homme Ravina Shamdasani s'exprime sur la RDC


        « Le M23 a récemment pris le contrôle de la ville de Sake à la suite de combats avec les forces armées de la RDC. Les récentes hostilités entre le M23, l'armée de la RDC et d'autres groupes armés dans le village de Bweremana, à environ 50 km de Goma, ont fait au moins 18 civils morts. Environ 400 000 personnes ont été déplacées au Nord et au Sud-Kivu depuis le début de cette année seulement », a déclaré le porte-parole des droits de l'homme.

        « Toute attaque de ce type sur Goma risque d'avoir des impacts catastrophiques sur des centaines de milliers de civils, les exposant davantage à des violations et abus des droits de l'homme », a-t-elle déclaré.

        Le Haut-Commissaire appelle toutes les parties au conflit à désamorcer les tensions et, conformément à leurs obligations et responsabilités en vertu du droit international des droits de l'homme et du droit humanitaire, à veiller à ce que les civils ne soient pas blessés. Ils doivent également respecter les principes de distinction, de précaution et de proportionnalité, et garantir que ceux qui en ont besoin aient un accès sûr et sans entrave à l'aide humanitaire.

        « Le Haut-Commissaire appelle tous les États ayant une influence sur les parties à leur faire comprendre l'urgence d'une cessation immédiate des hostilités », a déclaré Shamdasani.

        « Tout rôle joué par le Rwanda dans le soutien au M23 – et par tout autre pays soutenant des groupes armés actifs en RDC – doit cesser, » a-t-elle déclaré.

        « Les habitants de la RDC sont épuisés par la violence, épuisés par le conflit, épuisés par les horreurs de leur vie quotidienne. Et cela ne doit pas être autorisé à s'aggraver davantage », a déclaré Shamdasani.
