Bureau des droits de l'homme des Nations Unies : à l'occasion du huitième anniversaire de l'attaque militaire contre les Rohingyas au Myanmar
Le Bureau des droits de l'homme de l'ONU a appelé vendredi à mettre fin à l'impunité dans la violence contre le peuple Rohingya au Myanmar et à garantir leurs droits à la sécurité, à la citoyenneté et à l'égalité.
« Mettre fin à l'impunité et garantir les droits des Rohingyas à la sécurité, à la citoyenneté et à l'égalité sont essentiels pour briser le cycle de la violence, » a déclaré Jeremy Laurence, orateur pour le Bureau des droits de l'homme de l'ONU, lors du point de presse bi-hebdomadaire de l'ONU à Genève.
Depuis novembre 2023, la situation des droits de l'homme et humanitaire au Rakhine s'est fortement détériorée, aggravant encore les conditions déjà menaçantes pour la vie auxquelles sont confrontés les Rohingyas.
« Tant l'armée que l'Armée d'Arakan ont commis et continuent de commettre de graves crimes d'atrocité contre les Rohingyas en toute impunité — en violation flagrante du droit international, y compris les mesures provisoires ordonnées par la Cour internationale de Justice, » a déclaré Laurence.
« En pleine crise mondiale de financement, les Rohingyas au Myanmar et au Bangladesh endurent des conditions désastreuses aggravées par des réductions drastiques de l'aide alimentaire, » a-t-il déclaré.
« Nous implorons la communauté internationale d'intensifier son soutien aux Rohingyas en augmentant le financement humanitaire pour garantir l'accès aux besoins de base et aux services essentiels, et de soutenir résolument les processus de responsabilité internationale, » a conclu l'orateur.
