La première Journée mondiale des glaciers, déclarée par l'ONU en même temps que l'Année internationale des glaciers 2025, nous encourage à préserver le rôle vital des glaciers dans le maintien de la vie sur Terre pour les générations futures.
La campagne mondiale met en lumière les divers impacts des changements des glaciers sur les communautés et les écosystèmes en aval, ainsi que le besoin urgent de développer des stratégies d'adaptation liées à l'eau dans les zones touchées par la réduction ou la disparition des glaciers, une coopération transfrontalière accrue et l'engagement communautaire, tout en continuant à soutenir des réductions ambitieuses de la consommation de combustibles fossiles.
