Libyan Political Dialogue Forum, Day 5

Please be informed that remarks of Raisedon Zenenga, Assistant Secretary-General and Mission Coordinator of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) addressed this evening to the members of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) during the closing session of their meeting in Switzerland are available on the online newsroom.

During the past week the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has convened an in-person meeting of the LPDF which started last Monday 28 June in Switzerland to offer the members of the LPDF an opportunity to further develop proposals on the constitutional basis to hold national parliamentary and presidential elections on 24 December 2021.

The members of the LPDF did not reach a compromise to agree on a constitutional basis for the holding of national elections on 24 December. UNSMIL reaffirmed to continue working with the LPDF and commended that the key to breaking this deadlock is a return to the spririt of the Roadmap to credible, inclusive and democratic national elections.
