Excellences, chers collègues, amis, je vous adresse mes salutations chaleureuses à l'occasion de la 79ème Assemblée mondiale de la santé.
Cette réunion annuelle est une opportunité essentielle pour les États membres de s'aligner et d'accélérer les efforts pour relever les défis mondiaux en matière de santé.
Des défis qui n'ont que rarement semblé aussi redoutables. Au cours de l'année écoulée, les réductions de l'aide bilatérale et multilatérale ont perturbé les systèmes de santé et élargi les inégalités. Des cliniques ont fermé. Des travailleurs de la santé ont perdu leur emploi. La prévention, la surveillance et les soins ont été affaiblis. Des vies ont été écourtées.
Parallèlement, l'Organisation mondiale de la santé a redéfini ses priorités et recalibré ses actions, tout en continuant à servir les États membres. Préservant ses fonctions essentielles tout en fournissant un leadership technique, un soutien opérationnel et un espace de concertation fiable. Fournissant un soutien sanitaire urgent dans le cadre de crises humanitaires multiples. Et en se tournant vers les défis sanitaires à l'horizon. De la nécessité d'étendre la couverture santé universelle.
Aux effets du changement climatique sur la santé des populations.
À vos discussions sur la préparation aux pandémies, y compris l'annexe sur l'accès aux pathogènes et le partage des avantages.
L'OMS se trouve au centre de notre architecture mondiale de la santé. Elle doit être forte et indépendante, avec un financement suffisant et durable. Le travail de cette Assemblée est crucial pour la sécurité sanitaire mondiale et la promesse de la santé pour tous — aujourd'hui et demain. Je remercie tous les États membres pour votre leadership, votre engagement et votre partenariat pour un monde plus sain, plus sûr et plus équitable.
Et je vous souhaite une Assemblée mondiale de la santé très réussie.
