Le Comité pour l'élimination de la discrimination raciale (CERD) est l'organe d'experts indépendants qui surveille la mise en œuvre de la Convention sur l'élimination de toutes les formes de discrimination raciale par ses États parties.

La discrimination raciale reste un obstacle à la pleine réalisation des droits de l'homme. Malgré des progrès dans certains domaines, les exclusions et restrictions fondées sur la race, la couleur, la descendance, l'origine nationale ou ethnique continuent de provoquer des conflits, des souffrances et des pertes de vies humaines. Le CERD travaille à prendre des mesures contre l'injustice de la discrimination raciale et les dangers qu'elle représente.
