Plus cette guerre dure, plus la perte est grande, mais au-delà de cela, plus le chagrin est profond. Donc, je pense comme beaucoup de mes collègues, qu'il n'y a absolument aucune alternative à un processus politique approprié et authentique pour mettre fin une fois pour toutes au conflit non résolu le plus long. 75 ans sans solution.”

- EXTRAIT SONORE (ANGLAIS) - Philippe Lazzarini, Commissaire général de l'UNRWA : “Nous sommes confrontés à une guerre sans précédent, je pense que c'est une guerre de tous les superlatifs possibles, en termes de destruction, en termes de nombre de personnes tuées, en termes de besoins, en termes de déplacements, et plus que jamais, les pays ayant une tradition humanitaire devraient continuer à exprimer leur solidarité, et aujourd'hui l'agence principale dans la bande de Gaza est l'UNRWA. Et si l'UNRWA s'effondrait, tout le système humanitaire dans la bande de Gaza s'effondrerait.”

UN Human Rights Chief Volker Türk on Thursday briefed the Human Rights Council in Geneva on the human rights situation in Sudan: “Nearly three years of brutal conflict have almost turned Sudan into a land of despair. The report I am presenting today is yet another chapter in the chronicle of cruelty. It outlines clear, ongoing patterns of violence against civilians, including killings, rape, and torture. As the fighting has intensified, violations of international law by all parties to the conflict have surged, while accountability has remained practically absent,” he said.
