- DECLARACIÓN (Inglés) – Dr. Rüdiger Krech, Director de Promoción de la Salud de la OMS: “La buena noticia es que todavía tenemos 1.25 mil millones de personas fumando. Esa es la última cifra que tenemos del informe de tendencias globales que estamos publicando hoy. Pero eso también significa que tenemos 19 millones menos de fumadores que hace dos años. Es la primera vez que vemos tal disminución.”

Si no lo has prohibido, debes tomar medidas regulatorias muy fuertes, lo que significa que debes asegurarte de que los niños no tengan acceso a los cigarrillos electrónicos.”

Esto, creo, es criminal, pero lo hacen. Y en muchos países, el uso de cigarrillos electrónicos y vapeo aún no está regulado.”

Así que tenemos maestros llamándonos, especialmente en el Reino Unido, donde viste un aumento del 150 por ciento en los últimos tres años en el uso de cigarrillos electrónicos por parte de los niños. Así que nos llaman para decir que los niños ya no pueden quedarse una lección completa de 45 minutos porque necesitan salir a, ya sabes, fumar cigarrillos electrónicos.”

UN Human Rights Chief Volker Türk on Thursday briefed the Human Rights Council in Geneva on the human rights situation in Sudan: “Nearly three years of brutal conflict have almost turned Sudan into a land of despair. The report I am presenting today is yet another chapter in the chronicle of cruelty. It outlines clear, ongoing patterns of violence against civilians, including killings, rape, and torture. As the fighting has intensified, violations of international law by all parties to the conflict have surged, while accountability has remained practically absent,” he said.
