Libyan Political Dialogue Forum’s Advisory Committee - Arrivals and Meeting 15 January 2021
Background:
The Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF)’s Advisory Committee started to meet today at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, till 16 January 2021.
The Committee was recently established to discuss outstanding issues related to the selection mechanism of a unified executive and to put forward concrete and practical recommendations upon which the LDFP plenary shall decide.
The national elections date of December 24, 2021 remains a sine qua non for the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), a guiding principle and unrenounceable goal. In this sense, the Committee’s mandate will be strictly time-bound.
The 18 members of the Committee represent a broad geographical and political diversity and includes the participation of women, youth and cultural components.

The UN Human Rights Office on Friday made a renewed plea for humanitarian aid to flow into Gaza and for humanitarian workers to be protected, in the wake of the deaths this week of seven people working for the World Central Kitchen. The subsequent halting of aid delivery and distribution has increased the already real risk of more deaths from famine, the Office warned.
