رئيس قسم الصحافة والعلاقات الخارجية في خدمة المعلومات التابعة للأمم المتحدة في جنيف، رولاندو غوميز، رأس مؤتمرًا صحفيًا هجينًا حضره المتحدثون وممثلون عن مكتب المفوض السامي لحقوق الإنسان ومنظمة الصحة العالمية وصندوق الأمم المتحدة للطفولة واللجنة العامة للمفوضية العامة للأسماك في البحر الأبيض المتوسط (GFCM) التابعة لمنظمة الأغذية والزراعة (FAO).
الوضع الإنساني في غزة
قال الدكتور ريتشارد بيبركورن، ممثل منظمة الصحة العالمية (WHO) في الأراضي الفلسطينية المحتلة، من رفح في غزة، إن الوضع في غزة يزداد سوءًا بمرور الوقت، مع تصاعد القصف، بما في ذلك في المناطق الجنوبية. وكان هناك زيادة في عدد النازحين داخلياً، وكان الناس يشعرون باليأس وفي حالة صدمة دائمة. من بين 16,000 شخص قتلوا، كان أكثر من 60 في المائة منهم نساء وأطفال. كان يقتل طفل كل عشر دقائق في غزة. كنا قريبين من أسوأ ساعة للإنسانية، وكان هناك حاجة ماسة إلى وقف لإطلاق النار، أكد الدكتور بيبركورن.
