HRC 54 – Interactive Dialogue on Haiti

President, Kenya welcomes and takes note of the **** Commissioner's report on the human rights situation in Haiti.
The report highlights deep concerns that Haiti confronts, including the security of its peoples and especially women and girls who find themselves in vulnerable situations.
Kenya is concerned of reported cases of sexual violence and trafficking against women and girls and in addition, Kenya also notes the challenges that the populace faces including provision of healthcare services, lack of adequate and access to running water amongst others.
We implore the international community to collectively provide support programmes including capacity building on the institutions that will ensure accountability and provision of rule of law and order in this case.
Kenya therefore welcomes the UN Security Council Resolution 2699/2023 that mandates the multinational security support and other joint interventions that will that will enhance the institutional capacity of Haiti.
Kenya reaffirms its commitment closely collaborate with the relevant actors in operationalizing the multinational Security support mission to have the peoples of Haiti enjoy their human rights and development and conquer with the designated expert that such a move will be guided by international human rights laws and standards.
