UNDP press conference 14 December 2020

Subject:

2020 Human Development Report – The African perspective

For the first time in a relationship spanning 300,000 years, instead of the planet shaping humans, humans are shaping the planet. This is the Anthropocene. The 30th Human Development Report 2020 looks at how humanity can navigate this new age, unpacking the relationships between people and the planet and where we go from here, to transform pathways to human progress. UNDP to redesign a new way to measure human development has created an experimental planetary pressure Index. The outcome is simple: No country in the world reaches the perfect stage where humans can enjoy fully their capabilities while preserving the planet. The briefer will focus on the main findings of the report for the African continent.

Speaker:

  • Ahunna Eziakonwa, Assistant Administrator, Director, United Nations Development Programme’s Regional Bureau for Africa
